KHI Container up dates

Following an upgrade to their facilities. Abercorn House, a Nursing Home in Farnborough, Hampshire, run by charity Independent Age, donated a total of 21 hospital beds to RUGO.

The beds are very high quality and in excellent condition and RUGO therefore contacted Kigali Health Institute (KHI) to see if they were of use to them.

The Rector of KHI, Dr.Ndushabandi, confirmed they would be delighted to receive the beds for use in the new polyclinic they are building near King Faisal Hospital in Kigali.

The cost of transporting the container from UK to Rwanda was around £4,500. £500 was very generously donated by the Sand Hurst & Yateley Round Table Club.

The remainder of the funds were raised by RUGO Supporters in UK.

The container was loaded on Saturday 10th May at the Abercorn House. The container loading was helped by

RUGO Members and friends of RUGO and the container sent on its way to Rwanda. The top photos show Colette Hughes with Anthony Gonneville, Jonathan Cabugas and Dave Mancini at the time of loading the container in Abercorn House. Click on the photos to see other photos of the beds being loaded.

Alex Morton, the Secretary of RUGO, was in Rwanda the time the container left the Customs Warehouse in Kigali for delivery to KHI. The photos show Alex together with Eugene Kagize, Vice Rector Administration of KHI plus other staff of KHI at the time of delivery to KHI. Other photos of the beds offloading can be seen by clicking on the photo.

The beds are currently stored in KHI awaiting completion of the clinic and further photos will be provided once the clinic is finished.
