Outline:

 

ETO Nyamata offers A2 Secondary School Certificates in the options of  Electricity, Electronics/ICT, Construction and Tailoring (future options to include Mechanical (welding, plumbing, machining, fitting etc.). The school has the objective of being a model technical school for the region and therefore the Director will play a significant role in achieving this objective. The A2 courses are to be structured in such a way that the following criteria are met:

 

1.      The courses are to be relevant to the needs of Rwanda and the East African region.

 

2.      Student employability is to be the main focus of curriculum content.

 

3.      Relevant local, regional and international Industries are to play an active role in curriculum design, providing work experience for students and up-grading teacher’s experience.

 

4.      The quality of graduating students is to be of such a high standard that the school will earn a strong reputation within the region.

 

Responsibility:

 

The general responsibilities will be:

 

1.    Manage the day-to-day activities of the school, ensuring a conducive learning environment for teachers and students.

 

2.    Continually strive to improve the quality of teaching. The Key Performance indicators will be National Examination, Inter School Trial Exams results and Internal End of Term Exam results. There must be a constant improvement in all three areas.

 

3.    Strong focus is to be placed on ensuring the teachers are providing quality teaching in the classroom and adherence to the curriculum. Regular teacher performance reviews are necessary to review and establish new objectives and monitor adherence to Schemes of Work.

 

4.    Keep abreast of technological changes that are relevant to the A2 Certificate course.

 

5.    Pursue strengthening links with Industry. The links will provide feedback of graduate student’s strengths and weaknesses. This information must be clearly analysed and the curriculum and timetable also reviewed. The links are necessary to allow Senior 5 students, access to the Industries for work experience.

 

6.    Ensure each course is to the school’s best ability, adequately equipped with all necessary teaching materials, aids and equipment.

 

7.    Play an active role in planning the future direction of the school.

 

8.    Support in external fund raising activities for the school, e.g. through contracts for making furniture for other schools, external donations etc.

         

Reporting to:

 

The Employee will report to the Education Director, Bugesera District.

 

Travel Expenses:
